Happy Sunday! This is a song that has been on my heart the last couple of weeks. I love to sing this in the car (very loudly-lol!) with the family when we're on our way somewhere. It's a fun song, but also reminds me that no matter what I am facing now, have faced in the past or will face in the future God is there with me through it all.

My daughter and I were singing and dancing to this song yesterday in the kitchen; then today at church it was the first song during praise and worship. I also have this song on my mp3 player, and listen to it when I'm walking/jogging -- it always puts a little pep in my step during my praise workout ;)

This song and scripture is for all of the children, teens and college students (of any age). This is just a little fun song that brings a smile to my face every time I hear it. This summer I have been substitute teaching (co-teaching/assisting) in my daughter's 3rd grade Sunday School class. Each month they learn about a different virtue. This month's virtue was love. It seems like such a simple concept that everyone struggles to fully grasp. This month we talked about the ways that we can show love to others:

-by treating them the way we want to be treated
-by putting others first
-by forgiving others

It's so amazing how timeless and ageless this study is. Even though I am supposed to be the teacher, this is a lesson that  cannot be reinforced enough. This lesson reminded me that it's so easy to say I love you; but when given the chance, do we actually show it? Love is a verb, an action word, meaning it is truly shown through our actions. What do our actions actually show? Are we going to think about how our words and actions will affect someone else before we say or do something? Are we going to put others first or focus on fulfilling our wants? Are we going to forgive the person that has hurt us, or hold a grudge? And are we going to only show love to those who show us love, or are we going to show it to those we feel are undeserving of our love or unlovable? The entire month that we have been studying this, this is the song that repeatedly came to my mind.

Saturday's Song

Good Morning Everyone!!!! I'm soooo glad it's the weekend! It's been an extremely busy week for me to say the least. On Sunday I ran, ummm, I mean walk/jogged :) my first 5k for this year! And guess what? I'm doing another one today One of my goals is to complete four 5k's this year. So far, 1 down and 3 more to go! I'm sooo excited!!! The funny thing is that I hate running; but 5k's are so fun and exciting it doesn't seem too bad.

The song for today is the first song that I listen to when I begin. It reminds me to take - "One step at a time, there's no need to rush, it's gonna happen when it's supposed to happen!"

     Happy Saturday Everyone!!! It's the weekend!!! Yaaay!! :) I don't know about you, but my weekend is jammed packed with "to-do's!"  I'm just glad that the weather is beautiful! The only thing about beautiful weather is that it makes me want to just drop everything and go to the beach!  ;-) I hope this song offers encouragement to you today as it has for me over the past months.  Sometimes situations and circumstances can get so hard that you wonder how you will ever get through them, and honestly you feel like giving in or just giving up. But God is able to lift you up when you are weak, His arms can wrap around you and give you peace, and you can let go of your worries, grief, anger, resentment and disappointments; and totally trust Him to see you through.  He can and He will if you let Him! :)

Good Morning everyone!!! :) I hope you enjoy this song today! The first time I heard this song a couple of months ago, I was riding in my car, and my first thought was, "What in the world is this song!!" Lol! Especially when it was towards the end of the song, at what I call the "screaming whisper" part. But as I listened to the words and jammed along to the beat it's now one of my faves. It's a fun song with a strong message and when I hear it I can't help but smile, shout along, and want to jump up and down with my fist pumping in the air! Lol! This song is definitely going in my mp3 player as one of my 5k training songs. I was going to save this song for Easter weekend, but I just couldn't wait! ;-)  Enjoy!

This Saturday's Song is a little different from the others. No video or sound, just lyrics. This is a song that has been on my heart all month. A song that I learned and sang as a little girl, and being that I attended a HBCU, sang very often as a teenager and young adult. I haven't sang this publicly in a while, but I can still hear the organ playing this song in my mind. Here are the words:

This song symbolizes the struggles that we have have gone through, the victories we have accomplished, and the work that still needs to be done. Saturday's Song #2

This song is from the Preacher's Wife soundtrack, but this video shows her perfoming it live. The video is grainy but she still sounds great! I remember singing this song as a young girl growing up in church, and then Whitney sang it in the Preacher's Wife movie. It's funny how songs come back to your memory even when you haven't been thinking about them for a while. This song was heavy on my heart this past summer after my Mom passed away. I would sing it every morning. Beautiful lyrics for distressed, broken or grieving hearts. I hope you enjoy.

Saturday's Song #1

This Saturday we will have two songs. This morning I was trying to decide what song I would post today being that there wasn't a particular song that stayed on my heart this week. While watching the funeral of Whitney Houston, I decided to post a couple (of the many!) of her songs that I have enjoyed. I remember as a young girl listening to her voice sing -- "I believe the children are the future...." As a teenager listening to her Bodyguard soundtrack and singing along to the cassette tape,"I have nothing, nothing, nothing; if I don't have you." Then later on as a college student singing along with the Preacher's Wife soundtrack. I love this song from the Disney movie The Prince of Egypt!
